Smetana & Bardes is a remote accounting department that listens to you, understands the needs of your business, and develops procedures to help increase the overall efficiency of your company's operations. Our firm combines the best of private accounting, public accounting, and QuickBooks experience into one group. Yosef Smetana has over five years of private accounting experience working with small businesses and non-profit organizations. Bryan J. Bardes has over four years of public accounting experience and a thorough understanding of company operations and internal control policies. Yvonne Guzman has over ten years of experience working at Intuit, the maker of QuickBooks. She brings expertise in all facets of the accounting software including implementation, training, troubleshooting, and custom report writing. By working with us, your company is able to gain access to our well rounded & diverse accounting knowledge base.
The vision of Smetana & Bardes is to provide your company with all of its essential bookkeeping services while also offering you more in depth business consulting services including: audit preparation, internal control process documentation & testing, and controller services. Your company will also operate more efficiently by utilizing the latest in technology including: paperless document storage, online bill management, and remote desktop access to your files in a secure and encrypted environment.
Through our experiences, we have noticed a significant need in the market which is being driven by inconsistencies in how small businesses are keeping track of their transactions and how they are getting advice on increasing their operational efficiency. We are here to provide an efficient an informative approach to business management starting with its foundation, accounting.
Yosef Smetana
Yosef Smetana is a Certified Public Accountant with significant professional and entrepreneurial experience. He spent the past two years working closely with non-profits and religious organizations. His primary focus was helping them set up their accounting departments by developing and implementing accounting policies, setting up their general ledger systems, and training them how to keep accurate financial records. Prior to that, Mr. Smetana was with the nationally recognized regional accounting and business advisory firm, Margolin, Winer and Evens LLP. The majority of Mr. Smetana’s clients consisted of small businesses, ranging from 5 to 40 employees. He provided a wide range of services to these businesses ranging from the preparation of financial and management reports to full scope audits. Mr. Smetana is a graduate of Touro College from which he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
Bryan J. Bardes
Bryan J. Bardes graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He received his CPA license in 2006. Bryan has over four years of experience working at a Big Four accounting firm in Manhattan. During his time at KPMG he primarily worked in their real estate group leading audit engagements, however he was also exposed to tax and advisory work as well. His key strengths were assessing risk in the internal control environment of his clients while documenting & testing their critical controls. Prior to working in the real estate group, Mr. Bardes was part of a national team which helped document and test the internal controls of a fortune 500 advertising company in order to ensure it was in compliance with the recently passed Sarbanes Oxley 404 Act.
Yvonne Guzman
Yvonne Guzman has extensive experience in all facets of Intuit based accounting products, with the highest level expertise in QuickBooks. She began her career at Intuit as a Support Engineer for their QuickBooks 5.0 product in 1997. She spent time as a Technical Support Representative where she successfully resolved rigorous troubleshooting issues which arose as the Quicken, ProSeries, and QuickBooks products evolved. After being promoted to Subject Matter Expert, she was selected to write, design, and facilitate internal QuickBooks product trainings for new and promoted employees. Mrs. Guzman has significant experience providing product training and knows how to maximize the use of QuickBooks. She also provided consulting services to software developers seeking advice on best practices for integrating their applications with accounting software products. Mrs. Guzman has over 10 years of experience working with QuickBooks and has been a Certified Pro Advisor since 2005.
